Three people have been charged after a cop car was rammed by an alleged stolen Audi in a busy Brisbane CBD street, leaving two officers in hospital.
It happened after officers spotted the alleged stolen vehicle parked on George Street near Turbot Street at around 3.30pm Friday afternoon.
Officers drove their unmarked police car in front of the Audi to stop it from potentially fleeing.
Two men and a woman were quickly arrested at the scene.
It’s understood police were forced to smash through the window to get the driver out.
The two officers suffered minor injuries and were taken to hospital for treatment.
The Audi had been reported stolen from an address in Maudsland on May 19.
A 35-year-old Labrador man has been charged with one count each of dangerous operation of a vehicle whilst adversely affected by an intoxicating substance, unlawful use of a motor vehicle, possession of relevant substance (1 4 Butanediol), disqualified driving, possession of tainted property (car key) and obstruct police.
A 34-year-old Annerley woman has been charged with unlawful use of a motor vehicle and possession of dangerous drugs (methylamphetamine).
They will both appear before the Brisbane Magistrates Court today (Saturday 3 June).
A 34-year-old Nundah man has been charged with unlawful use of a motor vehicle, possession of tainted property (car key) and obstruct police.
He is expected to appear before the Brisbane Magistrates Court on June 16.
Police investigations are continuing.
It’s the second cop car ramming in just over a week, after three police vehicles were smashed into by a stolen car in a Surfers Paradise carpark.
