A Gold Coast man’s decision to play a game of Keno over a drink with mates has paid off, with the lucky local now $1.3 million richer.
The man received the shock of his life yesterday when he watched all ten numbers appear in the first game of his Classic 10 Spot entry at Robina Pavillion.
Speaking to a Keno official, the man admitted the win has turned his life upside down.
“We’ve had some tough times of late, so having won this incredible prize it really feels like things are turning around,” he said.
“I like to play a bit of Keno when I get the chance but I’ve never won anything like this.
“For it to happen on the first game on the ticket too was amazing”.
The man said he plans on using some of the money to pay off his mortgage.
“It’s going to give my family and I the freedom we’ve always dreamed of.
“I’ll pay off our mortgage, go back to work for a little while and then consider what to do with the rest of my life”.
Robina Pavillion General Manager Damien Stephen said they were ecstatic to have sold a major Keno winning entry.
“It’s the largest win I’ve been a part of so for all of us it was amazing to see,” he said.
“Great news travels fast and we’ve already had people coming into the venue to ask what happened, who the winner was and what the entry was.
“We understand the winner has been doing it tough so it’s fantastic that Robina Pavilion was able to be part of something great for him.
“We’re all hoping we have another incredible win here very soon!”
