Unemployment on the Gold Coast has hit a new low as the city continues its remarkable recovery from the pandemic.
According to the Australian Bureau of Statistics, the Gold Coast’s unemployment rate fell from 2.3 per cent in May to just 2 per cent in June.
The 12-month average unemployment rate has fallen to 4.1 per cent.
Another 2400 jobs were added to the city’s economy in the last month, taking total employment to 382,000.
There were an additional 7000 part-time positions in June which were offset by the loss of 4600 full-time jobs.
The number of people looking for work on the Gold Coast remained steady with the participation still at 70 per cent.
