Tributes have begun pouring in for a Gold Coast doctor who died while trying to help a swimmer in trouble at the beach this week.
35-year-old Luqman Jubair ran into the water at Miami on Thursday night along with two others to assist a swimmer.
The two others and the swimmer made it back to shore but Mr Jubair disappeared.
A major search was sparked and lasted over 24 hours, before members of the public made the tragic discovery on Friday night.
They alerted police immediately and a report is now being prepared for the coroner.
Doctor Jubair was a registrar with Gold Coast Health, who’ve released the following statement on his passing.
“It was with great sadness that we heard of the tragic passing of our colleague, Dr Luqman Jubair,” a spokesperson said on Saturday morning.
“Gold Coast Health recently welcomed Dr Jubair as a registrar and much valued member of the health service.
“We offer our heartfelt sympathies and condolences to Dr Jubair’s family, friends and healthcare colleagues.
“As a health service, we are focused on ensuring staff who knew Dr Jubair are supported at this difficult time,” the statement reads.

Emergency services conceded their hopes of finding Dr Jubair alive had faded on Friday afternoon.
“We obviously hold grave concerns for that individual and it’s a tragic tale where a member of the public has attempted to do the right thing and stepped in to save the life of another person and unfortunately has found themselves in some difficultly,” Acting Chief Superintendent Wildman told reports on February 18.
