A cyclist who was hit by a car in Carrara last week has tragically died in hospital.
The 64-year-old man from Clear Island Waters was struck by a 2013 Jeep Cherokee at the intersection of Nerang Broadbeach Road and Neilsens Road around 6am on Wednesday.
He suffered critical injuries to his head, chest and legs and was rushed to the Gold Coast University Hospital in a critical condition.
Despite desperate efforts by doctors and hospital staff, the man sadly succumbed to his injuries and passed away on Saturday.
The Forensic Crash Unit has now launched an investigation into the incident and is appealing for any witnesses, or anyone with dashcam, to come forward.
Investigations are ongoing.
