Gold Coast Council is ramping up the attack on mosquitoes after swarms of the pest descended on the city following recent high tides.
Crews will today take to the skies with aerial spraying with the hopes of getting on top of the problem.
“Recent tidal inundations in our north-eastern saltmarsh and mangrove areas have increased the likelihood of mosquito emergence and an aerial treatment is required to reduce the mosquito larvae and population,” Deputy Mayor Donna Gates said.
Several northern Gold Coast suburbs can expect to see crews spraying between 7.00am and 5.30pm, weather permitting.
They’ll be targeting saltmarsh and mangrove areas mainly in Pimpama, Coomera and Coomera Waters.
