Close to 150 rowers are once again set to brave the waters at Isle of Capri for over 24 hours from October 13, to raise much-needed funds for disadvantaged boys on the Gold Coast.
The Capri on Via Roma 24-Hour Paddle is an annual event held to raise money for Men of Business Academy (MOB) where 15 teams will be tested mentally and physically during 24 long hours paddling around the river & canals.
MOB Academy is an independent special assistance secondary school designed to empower young men with the skills, knowledge and confidence to be happy, healthy and successful in life beyond school.
Founder and CEO Marco Renai said this year’s paddle will help pay for new MOB HQ programs in Southport and he is proud the community will once again band together for a good cause.
“This building expansion will provide us with the capacity to spread out in the buildings to offer smaller class sizes plus, offer more specialized learning and training programs,” said Mr Renai.
“We are really going to be able to invest in our music, arts and culture program as well as run our community programs more effectively.
“The fact that the community has resonated with our cause means everything to us, it makes it all feel very special.
“It’s not just about the MOB, it’s about the community getting together to pay it forward and make a difference in people’s lives.”
CEO Jason Sessarago said the community is the heart and soul of the MOB.
“It provides us with purpose, capacity, and strength to tackle some of the challenging social issues in our community – providing a brighter future for our youth,” Mr Sessarago said.
“Our community gives us all at MOB a sense of belonging and comfort knowing that no challenge is too great and that when we collectively harness the power of community for good, most challenges can be conquered.”
All paddlers will depart and finish from the Capri on Via Roma Jetty at 10am on October 13, 2022 and finish 10am on October 14.
