One of the Gold Coast’s most notorious bikies has been arrested in Darwin.
Detectives swooped on Nick “The Knife” Forbes after he landed in the top end on Monday night.
The National President of the Mongols had been wanted in the Northern Territory over a string of incidents including the alleged assault of a rival bikie at a Darwin nightspot eight years ago and failing to appear in court.
Forbes flew into Darwin accompanied by his lawyer Michael Gatenby.
Mr Gatenby said he had been arranging with Police for Forbes to surrender but Police opted to take him into custody at the airport.
Forbes was taken to the Palmerstone watchhouse and is expected to appear in Darwin Magistrates Court on Tuesday.
The former Finks enforcer was at the centre of the Gold Coast’s infamous ‘Ballroom Blitz’ when members of the Finks and Hells Angels were involved in a violent brawl at a kickboxing match at Royal Pines in 2006.
