The weather may have improved but Gold Coast beaches will remain closed on Saturday with dangerous conditions still impacting the coastline.

That hasn’t stopped keen surfers who have been flocking to beaches this morning to take advantage of the conditions.

A hazardous surf warning is still in place for the Gold Coast with a forecasted swell in excess of 2 metres for Saturday.

Water quality is still poor following this week’s weather while there’s still plenty of debris as well.

Swimmers are urged to stay out of the water.

It’s hoped beaches will be able to reopen on Sunday with lifeguards to make a call after inspecting conditions in the morning.
