Residents of an apartment complex in Merrimac have had an early wake-up call after a blaze broke out inside one of the units.
The fire erupted in the roof area of an apartment on Bourton Road around 5am on Friday.
The 20-unit complex had to be evacuated while multiple crews battled the flames, which they managed to extinguish by 5.25am.
Several properties are believed to have suffered smoke damage as a result.
However, thankfully no one was injured.

It’s not known at this stage what sparked the blaze, with Queensland Fire investigators expected to head to the scene today.
