You may want to grab an umbrella before heading out the door today, with the Gold Coast in for some wet weather.
It’s been a while since we’ve woken to the sound of rain, with the city sweltering through hot and humid conditions over the past few weeks.
However, rain is exactly what’s on the cards across the coast today, with at least 40mm forecast to fall.
More than 15mm has already fallen at the Gold Coast Seaway since 9pm last night, while Coolangatta has copped more than 20mm since 7pm.
The Bureau of Meteorology has revealed there is a chance a severe thunderstorm could also develop later.
The wet weather won’t be sticking around for long, with a mostly sunny day forecast for tomorrow with only the slight chance of a shower.
Similar conditions are expected for Sunday, with the mercury heating up to 29 degrees.
