The race is on to repair the track at the Gold Coast Turf Club ahead of this weekend’s massive Magic Millions meeting.
Club bosses have sent an SOS to experts from Melbourne to help fix a crucial section of track that was mysteriously poisoned late last week.
The suspected vandalism forced Saturday’s twilight meeting to be moved to the Sunshine Coast at the last minute following the late discovery.
Police have launched an investigation into the wilful damage, which they believe occurred sometime on January 3.
They’re continuing to appeal for any witnesses or anyone with relevant vision to come forward.
Turf club officials are confident the track will be right by this weekend, allowing the highly anticipated $3m 2YO Classic and the $3m 3YO Guineas races to go ahead.
The repaired track will be tested on Thursday before being given the final greenlight.
