Motorists are being warned of lengthy delays on the Pacific Motorway this morning following a crash.

A vehicle and motorcycle collided northbound near Exit 71 at Nerang.

It happened at 4.30am, however, traffic is still at a gridlock in the area with delays currently back past Merrimac.

The Department of Traffic and Main Roads has advised that at least one lane has been closed, with drivers urged to avoid the area or to allow for additional travel time.

The rider of the motorcycle, a man in his 60s, has been taken to the Gold Coast University Hospital in a serious but stable condition with facial and arm injuries.

Four others, believed to have been the occupants of the vehicle, were taken to hospital in stable conditions.
