Construction workers have ruptured a gas main in Palm Beach forcing a stretch of the highway to close.
It’s happened along the Gold Coast Highway between 24th and 25th Avenue at around 11.30am.
The Gold Coast Highway is currently closed to southbound traffic, while there are also delays for northbound motorists.
A nearby apartment complex has also been evacuated.
Emergency crews are on scene working to fix the leak.
Police are urging pedestrians and motorists to avoid the area.
