A garbage truck has had to dump its load across a Varsity Lakes roundabout after bursting into flames.
The truck erupted in front of the gates of Bond University along University Drive just after 1.30pm.
The truck driver managed to dump the inferno and escape the vehicle, before quick calling emergency services.
The male driver suffered some minor smoke inhalation and has been taken to Robina Hospital for further treatment.
Firefighters successfully doused the flames by around 2pm.
One crew remains on the scene to ensure the area is safe.
