One of the Gold Coast’s most iconic street corners is in for a major revival, with the site set to undergo a $6.5m renovation transforming it into an exciting new microbrewery, sports bar and dining venue.

Leading hospitality and sports entertainment brand The Sporting Globe today announced plans to open its second Gold Coast venue at the former home of the Hard Rock Cafe in Surfers Paradise.

The latest development will see the brand partner with award-winning brewing company, 4 Pines, to convert one of the city’s favourite playgrounds into Australia’s second sports bar and brewpub.

The venue will be able to accommodate for up to 900 patrons.

The Sporting Globe’s Founder and CEO, James Sinclair, says the collaboration will team “the best of local brewing” with the “signature sports fit-out that Aussie’s have come to know and love”.

“The Sporting Globe has grown significantly since launching in Geelong thirteen years ago with an established venue network across Victoria, New South Wales and Western Australia and a growing presence in Queensland,” he said.

“Iconic Surfers Paradise was a natural next step and something the team and I have been working towards for a long time.

“The unique experience and vibe we create will be a major win for continued efforts to revitalise the precinct and re-establish Surfers as the original and true heartbeat of the Gold Coast.”

Todd Atkinson, 4 Pines CEO, says it’s an exciting next step for the company.

“The first Brewpub with The Sporting Globe group in Sydney has delivered a destination venue that people can’t get enough off,” he said.

“What’s better than catching up with friends over a beer with a front row seat to the best of live sports.

“We can’t wait to create the same high energy when we open the doors to this iconic location”.

The new The Sporting Globe x 4 Pines Brewpub venue is expected to open by Summer 2024.
