Four boys are in hospital following a nasty crash in Tamborine, with police alleging the teen driver was drunk behind the wheel.

The vehicle was travelling along Waterford Tamborine Road when it slammed into trees and down a ditch just after 12.30am.

Several paramedic crews rushed to the scene, treating four patients with various injuries.

The 17-year-old male driver returned a positive roadside breath test of 0.149.

He and his three male passengers, all in their mid to late teens, suffered injuries including back, neck, chest and facial injuries and were transported to hospital in stable conditions.

Investigations are continuing.
