Residents across Brisbane have woken to a thick layer of fog blanketing the city this morning.

It’s causing chaos for Brisbane Airport, where visibility is extremely low.

The heavy fog is preventing aircraft from landing, with several flights currently being diverted to the Gold Coast, while others are in holding patterns as they wait for conditions to improve.

“Widespread fog across Brisbane is also impacting Brisbane Airport, slowing movements on ground and limiting visibility,” the Airport posted.

“Flights are still departing but there are delays due to the reduced visibility”.

Authorities are also urging motorists to take it easy on the roads, with the Bureau of Meteorology issuing a road weather alert for Brisbane.

“Reduced visibility in fog will make road conditions dangerous during Wednesday in the Brisbane Area,” BOM said.
