UPDATE @ 4.15PM | An emergency declaration following a fire at Molendinar has now been lifted by Police.
The declaration was made around 11.45am as a massive blaze took hold inside a scrap metal yard on Manufacturer Drive.
The blaze is now under control but fire crews remain on scene.
Police have warned that local diversions will remain in place into the evening.
The fire is not being treated as suspicious.
UPDATE @ 3.30PM | A massive fire in a wrecking yard in the Molendinar industrial area has now been brought under control.
It has taken more than 40 firefighters around three hours to get the upper hand on the blaze.
Fire crews remain on the scene and will there for several more hours.
Some residual smoke is expected to impact the surrounding area for over the next few hours.
Nearby residents are advised to keep their windows closed and keep any respiratory medication close by.
An exclusion zone remains in place.

EARLIER @ 12.30PM | Police have made an emergency declaration under the Public Safety Preservation Act (PSPA) due to the ongoing industrial fire in Molendinar.
Thirteen QFES crews are now on scene battling the blaze.
A man in his 50s has been rushed to hospital in Brisbane with significant burns.
He is in a serious but stable condition.
An exclusion zone has been established in the area bounded by Precision Drive, Export Drive, Activity Crescent, Production Avenue and a nearby section of Smith Street.
Emergency services warn there is a danger from thick black smoke.
Members of the public are advised to avoid the area and those within the exclusion zone are asked to remain indoors with their windows closed until further notice.
Motorists are also urged to take care on surrounding roads including the Smith St motorway.
EARLIER | Fire crews are racing to the scene of a factory fire that’s broken out in Molendinar.
The blaze broke out in a car-wrecking yard on Manufacturer Drive around 11.15am.
Witnesses report hearing a loud explosion just before the fire broke out with thick black smoke being seen across the suburb.
Eight QFES crews are on scene with another two on the way.
A QFES spokesperson has confirmed the property is well involved.
Queensland Ambulance has also confirmed that one person is being assessed for burns.
Motorists are advised to avoid the area.
