Firefighters have been kept busy on the northern Gold Coast battling two separate cane field blazes with Police looking into whether they were deliberately lit.
Crews were called to Eggersdorf Rd in Oremau just after 10.30pm on Thursday night after reports of cane fields alight.
It took firefighters around two hours to bring the blaze under control with the Queensland Fire Department confirming the fire burnt out ‘several thousand’ square metres.
Police also attended the scene with fire investigators set to probe the blaze.
Fire crews were then called to another blaze in a cane field at Woongoolba at around 12.15am.
That fire was out within two hours with Police also attending that blaze.
Cane burning season typically takes place between July and November.
