Multiple fire crews are currently battling a large unit fire in Southport.
The blaze erupted inside a three-level apartment complex along Worendo Street around 5.40am on Tuesday.
The flames were so intense they caused the roof of the apartment to collapse.
Witnesses have told Hot Tomato large plumes of smoke could be seen billowing over the suburb.
One man, aged in his 40s, suffered minor burns to his arms.
He was treated at the scene by paramedics and has since been taken to the Gold Coast University Hospital.
It’s not yet known what sparked the blaze, with a fire investigator expected to be tasked to the scene to investigate the cause.
