Extra bus services are being rolled out across the northern Gold Coast from today to help boost transport links in the growing region.

Almost 800 new services a week will be added as part of a $16 million dollar joint trial between Council and the State Government.

The extra services will be rolled out progressively over the first three years of the five-year trial

Stage one will see improvements for routes 721 (Coomera to Ormeau via Upper Coomera),722 (Coomera to Ormeau via Coomera River) and 726 (Coomera station to Coomera Waters).

Buses will run at a higher frequency, particularly during the morning and afternoon peak, with services up to every 15 minutes.

Mayor Tom Tate says it’s a big win for the northern Gold Coast.

“Today, nearly 800 new bus services will begin across the northern Gold Coast, providing much-needed links with schools, medical and rail services,” Mayor Tate said.

“As mayor, I’m pleased to say we have listened to the residents of Ormeau, Pimpama and Coomera, and that is why we have partnered with the state government to deliver this $16.4 million bus initiative.

“These extra buses will help ease the burden of school drop-offs and pickups. This is particularly good news for families.”
