A major manhunt is underway after an elderly woman was allegedly robbed and assaulted in a terrifying home invasion on the Gold Coast.
A masked man allegedly broke into the 80-year-old’s home along Skyline Terrace in Burleigh Heads around 4am on Wednesday.
The intruder is alleged to have entered the property through the garage door, before making his way into the house through an internal sliding door.
Police allege that once inside, the man “saw the woman come from her bedroom and shook her demanding money”.
The elderly woman handed over her handbag, before the man fled the scene on foot.
The woman has described the man as being dressed in a black hoodie, with a mask, pants and gloves.
He was 180 cm tall with a proportionate build.
Anyone with information is urged to come forward.
