Two men, including an 83-year-old, have been injured while trying to stop a car thief at a home in Burleigh Waters.
The pair noticed a male sitting in a Range Rover Evoque parked in the driveway of a house along Seriema Street around 9.00pm last night.
Police say the elderly man and a 49-year-old confronted the male, dragging him from the vehicle before a fight broke out between the trio.
The wanna-be car thief managed to break free, running to nearby Kinglet Street where he got into a waiting red hatchback being driven by another person.
The two residents suffered minor injuries in the altercation, with the elderly man taken to hospital for observation.
It’s believed the keys to the Range Rover were stolen during a break-in at the home early yesterday morning, before the thief returned last night to try and steal the car.
He remains at large, with police urging anyone with information to come forward.
