Eight juveniles have been arrested over an alleged robbery at a Broadbeach bottle shop.

The teens are accused of entering the store on the Gold Coast Highway at around 7.40pm on Saturday, before they started taking alcohol from the fridges.

A worker who tried to stop them was also allegedly assaulted by a female teen.

The group was arrested a short time later with eight juveniles taken into custody.

“Fortunately, on the Gold Coast we have a fantastic City Safe camera network and the camera operators were able to get to work straight away and track those offenders and we were able to get our officers to respond quickly,” Superintendent Brett Jackson told the ABC.

The group, aged between 13 and 17 was taken to Southport Police station.

The majority were cautioned under the Youth Justice Act while two of them were already on bail for other stealing offences and will face court at a later date.
