Eight teenagers are in custody after allegedly dragging a woman out of her car and assaulting her in a terrifying carjacking on the Gold Coast.

Police spotted the stolen vehicle in the northern suburbs of Brisbane around 10am on Sunday before PolAir tracked the car to Logan, where responding officers on the ground deployed road spikes at Hillcrest around 6pm.

Five juveniles were arrested at the scene, while three other youths have also since been taken into custody in relation to the violent incident.

“So we actually have eight juveniles, aged between 13 and 17, that are currently in custody,” Police District Superintendent Rhys Wildman told ABC.

“Whilst there’s eight attached to the vehicle itself, we now have to identify which five were actually involved in the offence”.

The teens, all from Logan and Brisbane, are accused of ramming a stolen car into the back of a 50-year-old Pacific Pines woman’s Toyota Corolla in Ashmore around 4am on Sunday.

Police say the stolen vehicle then pulled up in front of the woman’s car, before the group of teenagers jumped out.

They’re then accused of dragging the woman from her Corolla and assaulting her before taking off in her vehicle, leaving their damaged car behind.

The traumatised victim suffered minor injuries and was taken to the Gold Coast University Hospital, where she has since been released.

Investigations are ongoing, with charges expected to be laid later today.
