Police have wrapped up a major operation targeting drug trafficking and organised crime on the Gold Coast.
The almost year-long drug sting has resulted in eight people being charged with a total of 58 offences.
It comes after Detectives from the Organised Crime Squad executed multiple search warrants in Coomera Waters, Varsity Lakes, Daisy Hill and Upper Coomera.
During the raids, police seized several firearms, ammunition, several mobile phones, fireworks and $30,000 in cash.
A range of illicit drugs were also seized including cocaine, amphetamine, MDMA, cannabis, steroids and drug utensils.
Among those arrested and charged include a 41-year-old Coomera Waters man, a 36-year-old Coomera Waters man, a 48-year-old Coomera Waters man, a 42-year-old Robina man, a 38-year-old Upper Coomera man and a 22-year-old Pimpama man.
“This ongoing multi-unit operation commenced in April last year to target and remove dangerous drugs from our street,” Minister for Police and Emergency Services Dan Purdie said.
“Illicit drugs have no place in our community, and we will continue to target those who choose to supply and traffic drugs and cause harm.
“These arrests and drug seizures will have a substantial impact on the illicit drug market not only in Logan and the Gold Coast, but across the entire state”.
