Police say the man demanded the keys and took off in the car, which was accompanied by a second vehicle with false number plates.

While the lengthy Nerang stand-off came to an end on Thursday morning (June 9) after the two men were holed up in a duplex on Rimu Place overnight before eventually giving themselves up to Police.

It all unfolded after officers attempted to serve the two men with return to prison warrants.
