Police are investigating after two men were allegedly assaulted at a popular Gold Coast surf club last night.
It all kicked off when a 64-year-old man intervened after spotting another man allegedly trying to steal a pushbike out the front of Tallebudgerra Surf Club.
A 24-year-old staff member came over to assist before both men were assaulted by the alleged wannabe thief.
The older gentleman suffered a swollen eye and a laceration to the back of his head, while the staff member copped a blood nose.
Superintendent Geoff Sheldon told the ABC the man got away, but they hope to catch up with him soon.
“The person doing the stealing of the bike was known to everyone there,” Superintendent Sheldon says.
“So we haven’t been able to round him up yet but it’s one of those things where we expect an early arrest is expected.”
Meanwhile, the pushbike has been recovered.
