A 48-year-old man has been charged with multiple offences after allegedly lashing out at police officers during an arrest on the Gold Coast.

Police were called to a home in Currumbin Waters around 1am on Sunday following reports of a domestic violence matter.

As the man was being taken into custody it’s alleged he lashed out at police, aggressively kicking an officer to the stomach.

They finally managed to get him into the back of the police car when he then spat at another officer.

Chief Superintendent Craig Hanlon said any attack on an officer is disturbing.

“Thankfully the officer wasn’t seriously injured but a 48-year-old and we’re spitting at people, that’s just disgusting behaviour and our police don’t deserve that sort of behaviour,” he told ABC Radio on Monday morning.

“It’s a dog act .. I don’t know why a 48-year-old would be doing that.”
