Authorities and residents had been hoping for a quieter night in Surfers Paradise, however, it appears this year’s Schoolies did not want to stop the party.
Tuesday was declared “chill out night” for the teens, however judging by the number of school-leavers treated by paramedics, it wasn’t very chill.
A total of 65 teens were assessed within the dedicated Schoolies medical hub.
Of those, 12 needed to be taken to hospital, the largest number of hospitalisations since the event kicked off.
Police had praised this year’s cohort as the best-behaved Schoolies ever, but it appears the behaviour may be slipping.
Arrests in Surfers Paradise have spiked, with 15 teens taken into custody overnight.
One was busted carrying a knife, the first weapon detected in the safe night precinct.
A total of 13 ‘Toolies’ were also arrested on 21 charges.
