LATEST @ 10.30AM | A teenager has been arrested following a hit-and-run in Tallebudgera that’s left a cyclist fighting for life.

A passing motorist found the male cyclist unconscious at the intersection of Dungogie Drive and Tallebudgera Connection Road at 6am Tuesday.

The 68-year-old was rushed to the Gold Coast University Hospital suffering life-threatening internal injuries and head injuries.

Police allege the cyclist was hit by a car that did not remain at the scene.

“An 18-year-old man voluntarily attended the Palm Beach Police Station around 8am and was subsequently arrested,” a QPS spokesperson says.

“A white Toyota dual cab utility has been seized at Worongary.”

All roads near the crash site are now reopened.

The Forensic Crash Unit is investigating the incident.

EARLIER @ 7.00M | A cyclist has suffered life-threatening injuries after being hit by a car on the southern Gold Coast.

Emergency crews were called to the intersection of Dungogie Drive and Tallebudgera Connection Road in Tallebudgera at around 6am after a motorist found the male cyclist unconscious.

Police say initial investigations indicate the cyclist was hit by a vehicle and that investigations continue to locate the driver of that vehicle.

Paramedics remain on scene treating the male patient.

The intersection has been closed while the Forensic Crash Unit conducts investigations.
