A man has sadly passed away in hospital after being struck by a truck while cycling on the state’s north coast earlier this month.
Emergency services were called to Sawtell Road at Toormina on Thursday 10 November, following reports of a crash involving a truck and cyclist.
Upon arrival, they found a 72-year-old cyclist suffering signficant leg injuries.
He was treated at the scene by paramedics before being taken to Coffs Harbour Base Hospital.
He was then airlifted to Gold Coast University Hospital, where he died on Wednesday.
The driver of the truck, a 28-year-old man, was taken to Coffs Harbour Base Hospital for mandatory testing following the crash.
Officers have commenced inquiries into the circumstances surrounding the crash, with police appealing for anyone who may have witnessed the incident or has dash cam footage to come forward.
A brief will be prepared for the information of the Coroner.
