A new clinic specialising in the treatment of endometriosis will officially open on the Gold Coast today.
Assistant Minister for Health and Aged Care Ged Kearney will be on hand to officiate the opening ceremony at the Medical Super Clinic in Benowa.
Ms Kearney has described the facility, which is one of 22 such clinics established by the Federal Government, as a “specialised healthcare service set to redefine care and treatment for women”.
“With approximately one in nine Australian women affected by the painful and debilitating condition of endometriosis, the demand for personalised, evidence-based care is more critical than ever,” Ms Kearney said.
“We know at least one in nine women and girls experience endometriosis, and they currently wait an average of seven years for a diagnosis… We are trying to change that.
“The Medical Super Clinic Benowa is crucial for women in the Gold Coast who need answers and support.
“It brings the expertise they need under one roof”.
The clinic offers a range of services including advanced diagnostic techniques, medical and surgical interventions, along with patient education and support.
