A teenage boy is fighting for life after being airlifted to the Gold Coast for treatment following a horror crash in rural NSW.
The boy had been driving along a country road, in the Northern Tablelands when he smashed into a tree on Saturday.
The impact caused the driver to be trapped inside the vehicle, until emergency services arrived on scene and were able to rescue him.
A Toowoomba-based LifeFlight helicopter crew was called to the scene, with the pilot able to land the helicopter on the road, which had been closed by NSW Police.
“The RACQ LifeFlight Rescue Critical Care Doctor and LifeFlight Paramedic worked alongside NSW Ambulance paramedics to treat the teen, who had suffered traumatic injuries,” a LifeFlight statement reads.
“The patient was airlifted to the Gold Coast University Hospital in a critical condition.”
He remains in hospital fighting for life.
