A colony of ibis who wreaked havoc by setting up their nests right next to the M1 at Yatala have returned to the site.

It comes just months after the State Government implemented measures to keep the growing group away for good.

The issue was first raised in September 2022, after the ibis were continuously being found dead on the side of the M1 after being struck by passing motorists.

They caused major traffic disruption and issues with thousands of ibis calling the spot home.

The State Government stepped in by putting in 3.5 metre-high fences, while ecologists removed eggs and cleared vegetation to keep them from coming back.

The fences were taken down after the issue was resolved in March this year… but alas, the birds have returned to the spot.

More to come.
