A motorist has been charged after allegedly colliding with a motorbike in a violent road rage incident on the Gold Coast overnight.
Police allege the man was driving along Wardoo Street and Southport Nerang Road in Southport just before 6pm, when an “altercation” occurred with a motorbike rider.
The driver of the vehicle, a 31-year-old Benowa man, then allegedly collided with the motorbike, causing him to crash.
According to police, he then fled the scene, leaving the 51-year-old male rider from Ormeau injured on the road.
The rider was treated by paramedics for a minor leg injury, before being taken to the Gold Coast University Hospital in a stable condition.
The driver returned to the scene a short time later and has since been charged with dangerous operation of a motor vehicle.
He will front the Southport Magistrates Court on March 21.
