UPDATE | A gunman remains on the run following a violent neighbourhood dispute in Surfers Paradise.

Emergency services were called to a unit complex on Peninsula Drive around 2am on Monday following reports of a disturbance.

A 44-year-old man had been found with stab wounds to his leg, neck and head.

A 21-year-old man had suffered a gunshot wound to his stomach and groin and a laceration to his bag.

A 23-year-old man had also suffered lacerations and a foot injury.

Police have revealed the altercation began when the victims tried to intervene in a dispute happing in the unit upstairs.

A verbal argument had been taking place between the alleged attacker and his partner when the older victim asked them to be quiet.

“As a result of that our offender has let a warning shot go from the back deck over into the ground outside our victim’s address,” Detective Inspector Mark Mooney said.

“A couple of minutes after that… our offender has then come down and confronted the victim in the common area of that unit complex.”

The 44-year-old and 21-year-old were rushed to the Gold Coast University hospital in critical conditions while the attacker fled the scene in a white Mazda hatchback.

Police are continuing to search for 30-year-old Mitchell Barnes who they believe may have suffered a broken arm and lacerations to his skull during the incident.

The white Mazda was later found at Helensvale with Barnes believed to have fled in a 2025 black Toyota Camry with NSW registration DL48YW.

Detectives would also like to speak to his partner who he was arguing with before the incident

A 44-year-year-old man was found with stab wounds to his leg, neck and head.

Both men were taken to the Gold Coast University Hospital in a critical but stable condition.

Queensland Ambulance also assessed a male in his 20s for minor injuries to his foot and hand and was also taken to Gold Coast University Hospital in a stable condition.

A 38-year-old man fled the scene in a white Mazda hatchback and remains on the run.

Police say the man is known to the victims.

Officers have also located a firearm at the scene with a crime scene declared.

Police are appealing for any witnesses or anyone with relevant CCTV or dashcam vision to contact them.
