Body of missing Gold Coast man discovered following major search

There’s been a tragic end to the search for an elderly man missing since Tuesday, with the discovery of his body.

84-year-old Warren Bartley was last seen leaving Emerald Lakes Golf Club on Tuesday afternoon but failed to return home.

His disappearance sparked a major search involving Police, Queensland Fire, Queensland Ambulance, SES and Surf Life Saving.

Crews discovered Mr Bartley’s body in scrub off Nerang Broadbeach Rd on Thursday afternoon.

“The 84-year-old man reported missing from Carrara on December 17 has been located deceased following an extensive search,” Queensland Police confirmed in a statement.

“The man’s death is not being treated as suspicious, and police will prepare a report for the coroner.”
