A known member of a bikie gang has been arrested on the Sunshine Coast after cutting off his ankle bracelet and going on the run following a violent attack at a Gold Coast hospital.

The 41-year-old man is accused of walking up to a 45-year-old man in the emergency waiting room at the Gold Coast University Hospital around 2.30am yesterday morning and violently assaulting him.

Queensland Police say the two men were not known to each other.

The 41-year-old left the hospital before police arrived but the entire ordeal was caught on CCTV.

The man, who is a known member of the Comanchero Outlaw Motorcycle Gang, is then accused of going to a home in Maudsland and removing his electronic monitoring device before disappearing.

He was eventually found in Caloundra around 1.30pm and taken into custody.

He has since been charged with assault occasioning bodily harm, breach of bail, wilful damage, unlicenced driving and fail to provide a specimen of breath.

He was refused police bail and will appear in Maroochydore Magistrates Court today.
