Police have issued a warrant for the arrest of a man following investigations into several suspicious fires at tobacconists across Brisbane and the Gold Coast.

The 34-year-old Scenic Rim man allegedly set fire to four businesses across three dates in October.

They include tobacconists on James Street, Burleigh Heads and Cotlew Street, Ashmore on October 11.

Brisbane businesses targeted were on Elizabeth Street, Acacia Ridge on October 25 and at Wickham Terrace, Spring Hill on October 30.

The accused is currently in custody in NSW for separate, unrelated offences.

These New South Wales matters will be dealt with prior to any application for the man to be returned to Queensland.
