A man remains on the run after holding up a Nerang supermarket at knifepoint.

The man entered the store along Station Street around 7.45pm on Monday and grabbed a number of items from the shelves before heading to the counter.

As the 19-year-old female store attendant was scanning the items, the man produced a knife.

Police allege the man used the weapon to threaten the young worker into handing over cash from the till.

The woman complied and the man fled the scene on foot.

He remains at large, with police appealing for anyone with information to come forward.

The man is described as Caucasian, around 175cm tall wearing a red cap, red shoes, white particle/dust face mask with a beard protruding out, black baggy pants and a loose grey sweatshirt.
