Police are investigating two shocking robberies at a Gold Coast business and an Ipswich servo, with four people armed with a machete and axe.

A gold-coloured Toyota Camry sedan with the false number plates ‘BIG RIG’ were spotted at both break-and-enters on Saturday, October 15.

While an innocent staff member is in hospital after being assaulted in the process.

At around 3am, the vehicle arrived at a business along Stapylton-Jacobs Well Road in Alberton, on the Gold Coast.

Four people armed with a machete, axe, baseball bat and gardening shears forced their way into the store.

They broke into a number of poker machines and attacked a staff member before fleeing the scene in the car.

The staff member, a 36-year-old man, was taken to Gold Coast University Hospital for treatment of non-life threatening injuries.

WATCH:

About an hour and a half prior, the same vehicle arrived at a service station on Queen Street in Wallon, Ipswich at around 1.30am.

Four people exited the vehicle and forced entry to the business, where they stole a number of cigarettes before fleeing in the car.

Investigators are appealing for witnesses to come forward, particularly those with CCTV or dashcam vision of the vehicle involved, which has panel damage to the front passenger side above the wheel.

Anyone with information about the incidents can also make anonymous reports to police.
