LATEST @ 10.00 AM | Police have confirmed a three-year-old boy taken from a home on the Gold Coast has been found safe and well.
The toddler was taken from a property in Oxenford by his 30-year-old mother around 11.30pm last night, sparking an amber alert.
Following a major public appeal, the pair was located in Redland Bay this morning.
“Fortunately, I can say that as of 9am this morning, that child has been located along with the mother,” Detective Inspector Paul Fletcher said.
“Both are safe and well and the woman is assisting police with enquiries”.
Police also confirmed a 70-year-old woman, understood to be the child’s grandmother, remains in hospital after being seriously assaulted at the Oxenford home shortly before the child was taken.
“Police were called to the home at Vine Circuit around 11.30pm last night in relation to a family violence incident,” Detective Inspector Fletcher said.
“From that incident, a 70-year-old woman was taken to Gold Coast University Hospital for serious injuries that are non-life threatening”.
“Following that, a 30-year-old woman has left the scene on foot with her three-year-old child and due to her actions at that residence, police were seriously concerned for the wellbeing of that child”.
Investigations into the incident are ongoing.
EARLIER @ 6.30 AM | Queensland Police are appealing for urgent help to locate a 3-year-old boy who may be at significant risk after being taken from the Gold Coast.
The toddler was taken from a property on Vine Circuit in Oxenford around 11.30pm on Wednesday.
Police say the boy is with Amy Williams, who is known to him, and that the pair left the area on foot.
