A man accused of stealing a beloved blind dog from a home on the Gold Coast, sparking a desperate two-day manhunt, has been released into the community on bail.

Maximiliano Ricardo Cardozo was arrested near Nambucca Heads in northern NSW on Friday after allegedly snatching Bowie, the blind Australian Shepherd, from his Southport home.

Police allege the 48-year-old was also found in possession of a vehicle and two credit cards also allegedly stolen from the same property during the brazen break-in on Wednesday.

He appeared in Port Macquarie Local Court for the first time over the weekend charged with receive etc property stolen outside NSW more than $15,000.

The man has since been granted conditional bail to reappear at the same court on 10 August.

He has also been banned from entering Queensland.

Bowie has since been reunited with his very relieved family.
