Multiple students have been assessed by paramedics following an incident involving a battery at a school on the Gold Coast this afternoon.
Emergency crews were called to Gaven State School around 1pm on Friday, following reports a battery had exploded after a student allegedly cut it open.
Upon arrival, they found the battery smoking in a classroom and worked quickly to put it out and ventilate the room.
All students were immediately evacuated while authorities responded.
Two staff members, a man in his 50s and a woman in her 30s, have been taken to hospital in stable conditions.
While a further 20 patients, all believed to be primary school-aged children, were assessed at the scene, however, all were uninjured.
