A man alleged to be involved in a large scale drug trafficking scheme has been arrested on the Gold Coast.
Nine kilograms of drugs worth over $1.7 million were seized in Mudgeeraba on Friday afternoon by The Queensland Crime and Corruption Commission.
The Gold Coast Rapid Action Patrol Group and Queensland Police intercepted the man after he travelled into Queensland from New South Wales.
The CCC has been investigating the matter for 13 months, with the man alleged to have been transporting drugs from over the border into Queensland.
The 37-year-old Pallara man’s vehicle was seized for examination, where an x-ray found nine separate one-kilogram packages of methylamphetamine, a small amount of cash and drug paraphernalia.
Police then further searched a work premises and a residential dwelling linked to the man.
“A number of items were seized including $15,900 cash,” a CCC statement read.
“A search of the work premises found evidence from which it will be alleged the man is involved in large scale trafficking of dangerous drugs.”
The man is facing a string of charges including Trafficking Dangerous Drugs.
He was denied bail and will front court next week.
The CCC understands the man was also served a Notice to Appear in court by the QPS for failing a roadside drug test.
