The Hyundai Australian Boardriders Battle Grand Final presented by NRMA Insurance

Australia’s most exciting club surfing competition, the Hyundai Australian Boardriders Battle (ABB) Grand Final presented by NRMA Insurance, is set to return to Burleigh Heads, Gold Coast, on April 12-13, 2025, following a ground-breaking 2024 edition that captivated audiences and competitors across the nation.

This event brings together 42 of Australia’s best boardrider clubs, who have battled through state qualifiers to earn their place in this prestigious competition. They will compete for national glory, substantial prize money, and ultimate bragging rights in the country’s biggest grassroots surfing event.

The Hyundai Australian Boardriders Battle presented by NRMA Insurance is far from your average surfing competition. Surfers will face a challenging course starting at the top of Burleigh Hill, sprinting down into the national park, navigating over the rocky shoreline to paddle out to the waves. Once they hit the shore, competitors must then run back uphill to tag their teammate or cross the finish line. Local knowledge and fitness will be crucial, as defending champions Burleigh Boardriders aim to retain their title.

The Grand Final will feature surfing legends, World Champions, and Olympians competing alongside the next generation of rising stars—all representing their home-town clubs. The event has previously seen 7x World Champion Layne Beachley, 3x World Champion Mick Fanning, 1x World Champion Joel Parkinson, Olympic bronze medalist Owen Wright, Tyler Wright, Josh Kerr, Sierra Kerr, Connor O’Leary, Ethan Ewing, Molly Picklum, Bede Durbidge, and many more battle it out. Most of these icons are expected to return in 2025!
