Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman teamed up on Wednesday to co-host Jimmy Kimmel Live while promoting their new movie, Deadpool & Wolverine. The Canadian actor, 47, and the Australian actor, 55, took turns playfully teasing each other while filling in for Kimmel, who is on summer break.

At one point, Ryan was solo behind the desk and interviewed Hugh about a difficult time when he lost his father during COVID-19. As Hugh began to share this emotional moment, Ryan’s phone rang. It was his wife, Blake Lively, calling. Apologizing to Hugh and the audience, Ryan answered the call, explaining that he and Blake promised to always pick up.

The audience laughed as Blake admitted she was just bored and wanted to chat. Ryan quickly ended the call, showing his phone to the audience as Blake waved. Returning to the interview, Hugh humorously shook his head, saying, “I don’t know where I am.”

Later, Emma Corrin, their co-star, joined them and shared funny anecdotes about the advice she received from Ryan and Hugh. Emma portrays the supervillain Cassandra Nova in the film, marking the character’s live-action debut in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Deadpool & Wolverine is the first R-rated superhero movie from Disney-owned Marvel Studios, with it now showing in cinemas nationwide.
