Yes, Netflix has officially announced a “Peaky Blinders” film, and fans couldn’t be more thrilled. Even better, Cillian Murphy is set to return as the enigmatic and brooding Tommy Shelby.

The announcement, made on June 4, revealed that the film’s script is penned by the series creator Steven Knight and will be directed by Tom Harper, who directed episodes from the first season. Murphy, who recently dazzled audiences as J. Robert Oppenheimer, expressed his excitement about returning to the role that has captivated millions. “It seems like Tommy Shelby wasn’t finished with me,” Murphy said. He emphasised how gratifying it is to collaborate again with Knight and Harper, assuring fans that the film is tailor-made for them.

The movie’s production is set to kick off later this year, with filming slated to take place in the historical neighbourhood of Digbeth, Birmingham. While the plot remains tightly under wraps, Knight hinted that the film would be a full-throttle, no-holds-barred adventure featuring the Shelby clan at war. Harper added that reuniting with the team feels like bringing the family back together.
